Accrington fire: Whinney Hill landfill site blaze sends smoke plumes billowing into sky above town

Firefighters remain at the scene of a landfill site blaze in Accrington which broke out on Sunday evening (August 11). Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said four crews from Hyndburn, Blackburn and Leyland were called to the incident on Whinney Hill Road shortly before 7pm.
